Jamshedpur, Dec 2, 2013: Urban Services department of Tata Steel launched a Women Empowerment Programme in collaboration with Kalighat Society for Development Facilitation (KDSF), a Kolkata based NGO, at Urban Services office today.
The programme, targeted at semi-trained female artisans in the operational areas of Kitadih and Bagbera in Jamshedpur, aims to upgrade the skills of women self-help groups (SHGs) to help women members work on Fabricated Jute Diversified Products and Handmade Paper Craft.
Mr Krishna Nandan, Chief, Corporate Relations, Tata Steel, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. Mr Sanjay, Head, Urban Services and other employees from Urban Services department including Mr R S Pandey, Mr Basant Singh also attended the programme.
Working as an employability enabler, Tata Steel organises various skill development programmes that enable youth and women to gain skills to be self-employed. The objective is to transform unskilled human resource into a productive resource pool for self-growth and societal development.
