Jamshedpur, Jan 5: Tata Steel Karate Training Centre players Karnisha Das and Neeraj Kumar showcased excellent performance in online International E-Kata Karate Championship organised by Karate Association of India on December 20, 2019, and bagged gold medals.
Karnisha Das won gold medal in Under-18 Girls category and Neeraj Kumar bagged the gold medal in +18 men’s category.
Karnisha Das has many accolades to her name. She won gold medal in Jharkhand State Open E-Kata Championship on the occasion of Sir Dorabji Tata Anniversary Celebration.
She also won gold medal in Kata Championship 2020 on the occasion of JRD Tata Birth Anniversary Celebration.
It is worth mentioning that Karnisha Das won Gold Medal in the year 2019 in Kathmandu, Nepal during International Karate Championship. Recently Neeraj Kumar represented Jharkhand State in KAI National E-Kata Championship under Jharkhand State Karate Do Association.
“Both the players worked hard with their Karate training during the lockdown which has borne fruits as they have put up top performance in the recently concluded championship, said L. Nageshwar Rao, Hony. General Secretary, Jharkhand State Karate Do Association (JSKA).
R Ravi Prasad, President, Tata Workers Union lauded brilliant performance of Tata Steel Karate Training Centre players and congratulated them on winning gold medals. He also honoured the gold medalists at his office on Monday and presented them with certificates.
Karate is a Japanese martial arts technique that involves the development of defensive attack and counter attacking body movements. Persistence, discipline and mental balance are some of the keywords that defines the qualities to become the best karate champion.
