Tata Steel Jamshedpur to recruit trade apprentices

Jamshedpur, Jan 5: Tata Steel has announced recruitment drive for trade apprentices. The hiring process will take place within Tata Steel itself, contrary to previous speculation. The company has issued a recruitment notification for trade apprentices, reiterating its commitment to hire within its existing framework. This announcement follows the signing of an agreement between Tata Steel Management and Tata Workers Union, leading to the creation of two new companies for reinstatement.

The restoration opportunity is exclusively for tribals, specifically for Schedule Tribes (ST). Eligibility criteria include securing a minimum of 60 percent marks in matriculation, obtaining 9.5 CGPA marks in English, Science, and Maths. Applicants must be born between January 1, 2004, and July 1, 2008, and have Jharkhand domicile. Tribal status is mandatory, and the physical examination criteria include a height of 152 cm for boys and 142 cm for girls, a chest width of 5 cm, normal color vision, and eyesight of 6/6 with or without glasses. Boys must weigh at least 45 kg, while girls must weigh at least 40 kg. Power glass restoration is allowed up to plus or minus 4.

The selected candidates will undergo a two-year training program under the Apprentice Act, receiving a stipend according to government rules. Post-training, candidates may be reinstated in any Tata Steel plant or group company. The company will provide affordable hostel and food facilities. Applications can be submitted through Tata Steel’s careers portal https://www.tatasteel.com/careers/ between January 5 and January 16. Admit cards will be available on February 8, and the written examination is scheduled for February 14.
