Controlled demolition scheduled for February 1 as part of modernisation drive
Jamshedpur, January 29: Tata Steel will carry out the controlled demolition of the obsolete Coal Tower of Battery #7 at its Coke Plant in Jamshedpur on February 1, 2026, at 12 noon, as part of its ongoing infrastructure modernisation and safety initiatives.
The demolition will be executed using advanced engineering techniques by Edifice Engineering, a specialised partner engaged for the activity. The process is designed to ensure minimal environmental impact and no damage to personnel, plant or equipment.
All statutory approvals and No Objection Certificates (NOCs) have been obtained from the relevant authorities. A comprehensive emergency preparedness and evacuation plan has been put in place, and adequate security arrangements will be deployed at the site to prevent unauthorised access during the planned activity.
Tata Steel has successfully undertaken similar controlled demolitions in the past, including the implosion of obsolete chimneys and coal towers at the Coke Plant Jamshedpur, in line with best-in-class safety and engineering standards.
