Timely intervention halts water wastage in Namda Basti, repair work begins

Jamshedpur: After months of severe water wastage due to a leaking main supply pipeline, relief is finally in sight for residents of Namda Basti in Jamshedpur. The damaged Tata Steel UISL water pipeline near the community centre in Vikas Colony, which had been leaking for nearly three months and wasting thousands of litres of drinking water daily, is now being repaired following prompt intervention by former BJP District President Dinesh Kumar.

The issue came to light after BJP worker Vijay Singh brought the matter to Dinesh Kumar’s attention. Taking swift action, Kumar immediately informed officials at the Tata Steel UISL water tower and followed up persistently, highlighting the hardships faced by local residents due to the prolonged leakage.

Responding to the repeated complaints, Tata Steel UISL officials initiated repair work on the affected pipeline on Thursday. The repair is expected to put an end to the massive wastage of potable water and restore normal supply in the area.

Dinesh Kumar visited the site during the repair work, accompanied by Golmuri BJP General Secretary Ashok Samanta, Bunty Agarwal, and other party workers. He interacted with local residents, listened to their grievances, and assured them of continued efforts to resolve civic issues.

Expressing appreciation for Tata Steel UISL’s action, Dinesh Kumar said timely repairs are crucial to conserving drinking water and urged the agency to take suo motu action in the future to address such issues before they escalate. He also emphasized the need for a permanent solution to prevent similar incidents.

Among those present at the site were Santosh Singh, Mithilesh Singh, Anil Singh, Raju, Rajat Nandi, Pratap Singh, and Shashi Bhushan.
