Tata Steel Jamshedpur restructures Tinplate operations, forms Steering Committee

Jamshedpur, Jan 16: In a strategic move, Tata Steel has implemented significant changes in the organizational structure of its Tinplate Company, solidifying its position within the Tata Steel framework. The operating system of the Tinplate Company has been revamped, marking its transition into a dedicated division under Tata Steel’s umbrella.

In a recent circular issued by Tata Steel’s Managing Director, TV Narendran, it has been announced that a Steering Committee, named the Tinplate Division Business Council, has been formed to oversee the operations of the Tinplate Company. The council comprises 17 key members, reflecting a diverse range of expertise.

Leading the council is Kaushik Chatterjee, Executive Director, and Chief Financial Officer of Tata Steel, who assumes the role of Chairperson. Prabhat Kumar, Vice President of Marketing and Sales, has been appointed as the Alternative Chairperson, adding valuable leadership to the committee.

The newly constituted Tinplate Division Business Council includes notable individuals such as VPHRM Atrai Sanyal, Chief Anil Kumar Pujari, Chief Dev Jyoti Rai, Kesari Kumar, Kishore Tar, PK Mishra, Pashufuleti Anand, Prateek Chatterjee, RN Murthy (Tinplate’s EIC), Rajeev Kumar Choudhary, Santosh Anthony, Sonam Ranjan, Shaurya Jyoti Dev, Vinay Vasant Mahashabde, and Swaroop Chatterjee (Conveyor).

  1. This is a strategic move by Mr. TV Narendran for the land issue.
    Under the Government Grants Act, 17750 acres of land was released to TISCO in a phased manner from 1902 to 1920, this land was sublet by TISCO to different organizations in a basic manner.
    Now the Jharkhand government has proposed to make Jamshedpur an industrial city.
    A petition filed by Jawahar Lal Sharma for the notified area here is pending in the Supreme Court. It is the compulsion of TISCO to merge the companies which were established illegally through sub-licensing into the new name Tata Steel and show the industry of a single company, then it will be able to legally prove in the Supreme Court that there is only one company here is operated.
