Tata Steel Jamshedpur announces major reshuffle across Procurement, IT, and Medical Divisions

Jamshedpur: Tata Steel has initiated a significant organizational restructuring, announcing a series of strategic transfers and promotions across its Procurement, IT, and Medical Services departments. Effective May 1, these changes aim to strengthen operational efficiency and align leadership with the company’s evolving business objectives.

Strategic Leadership Deputation

In a notable long-term assignment, the company has deputed Manikant Nayak (IL-2 level officer) to Tata Steel Special Economic Zone Limited. He will serve in this capacity until June 30, 2028.

Procurement Division Restructuring

The Procurement Department underwent the most substantial changes to optimize sourcing and delivery management:

• Ashok Kumar, formerly Head of Procurement (Jamshedpur), takes over as Head of Procurement (Electrical).
• Roma Sahni, previously leading Procurement (OMQ), now assumes the role of Head of Procurement (Jamshedpur Delivery Management).
• Siddharth Sonkar earns a promotion to Head of Procurement (Group Strategic Procurement) after serving as Senior Area Manager.

‘One IT’ and Process Automation Updates

To streamline digital operations and technological integration, the company redirected several IT leaders:

• Santosh Kumar (Head of IT Services, New Materials Business) will now oversee operations from Jamshedpur.
• Indranil Majumdar (Head of IT Services, Group Reporting) shifts his base of operations to Kolkata.
• Ashish Agarwal transitions from Head of Coke Plant (Iron Making) to Head of Process Automation (Iron Making) at the Meramandali unit.

Medical Services and TMH Rotations

Tata Steel also realigned its medical wing to enhance patient care at Tata Main Hospital (TMH) and regional plants:

• Dr. Renuka Saw moves from the Emergency Department to become a Consultant in Gastroenterology.
• Dr. Vijay Kumar transitions from Senior Registrar (West Bokaro) to Plant Medical Officer for the Jamshedpur plant.
• Dr. Pratyush Anand transfers to the TMH Clinic, while Dr. Dibyendu Patra moves from the clinic to the main hospital’s Emergency Department.
