Tata Steel hosts Tripartite Safety Committee Meeting to enhance workplace safety

Ranchi, November 18: In collaboration with the Directorate General of Mines Safety (DGMS), Tata Steel management, and the Union, organised a Tripartite Safety Committee meeting today at the BNR Chanakya Hotel, Ranchi. Senior officials from three divisions of Tata Steel—OMQ Division, West Bokaro Division, and FAM Division, along with union representatives and vendor partners, participated in the meeting.

During the meeting, important discussions were held on technologies used in opencast mining , methods to improve workplace safety with special focus on behavioral aspects of the workforce and improving supervision to achieve the safety goals of the organisation. Participants actively contributed by sharing their valuable insights and suggestions.

The meeting was chaired by Shyam Sundar Prasad, Deputy Director General (SEZ), Directorate General of Mines Safety. On the occasion, D B Sundara Raman, Vice President, Raw Materials, Anurag Dixit, General Manager, West Bokaro Division, Atul Kumar Bhattnagar, General Manager, OMQ Division, and Pankaj Kumar Satija, EIC, FAMD Division, Tata Steel, were also present.

Other senior officials from Tata Steel present at the meeting included Neeraj Kumar Sinha (Chief, Safety), Saroj Banerjee (Chief Safety, Raw Materials), Rajesh Kumar (Chief, Joda East Iron Mine), GV Satyanarayana (Chief, Khondbond Iron Mine), Rajesh Patel (Chief, Quarry AB, West Bokaro Division), Mrinal Bhadra (Chief, Quarry SEB, West Bokaro Division), D Vijayendra (Chief, Noamundi OMQ Division), and S N Jha (Chief, Mines, FAMD Division).

Senior officials from DGMS present at the meeting included Aftab Ahmad (Director, Mining, Ranchi Region), Rakesh R. Mishra (Director, Mining, Chaibasa Region), Krishnendu Mandal (Director, Mining, R-I, Bhubaneswar), and P.R. Thakur (Director, Mining, R-II, Bhubaneswar).

Union officials present at the meeting were P K Singh (Secretary, Rashtriya Colliery Mazdoor Union West Bokaro), Anuj Kumar Sunidhi (President, Noamundi Mazdoor Union), Sanjay Kumar Das (General Secretary, Noamundi Mazdoor Union), Sanjeeb Lakra (President, Joda East Iron Mines Union), Ranjit Kumar Das (General Secretary, Joda East Iron Mines Union), S B Sandha (President, Khondbond Iron Mazdoor Union), P B Mohanty (General Secretary, Khondbond Iron Mazdoor Union), Arun Kumar Pradhan (President, Manganese Mines Workers Union), Ramachandra Patra (General Secretary, Manganese Mines Workers Union), along with other officials from Tata Steel, DGMS, and the Union.

The meeting was attended by approximately 190 participants, including members from Tata Steel, DGMS, the Union, and vendor partners. The tripartite meeting served as a platform for members to share their views and concerns regarding a safe and productive work environment.
