Tata Steel Foundation’s Urban Services organizes Nritya Basant

Jamshedpur, March 20: Urban Services wing of Tata Steel Foundation (TSF) as an esteem part of the CSR Jamshedpur has been working deafeningly towards the welfare of the urban areas in the city. Social development and safeguarding the economic conditions of the weaker sections of the urban sector has been a major concern and area of interest for us. To extend a hand for nurturing and strengthening the existing skills of the women, youth and children of these marginal section, Urban Services has been promoting and running semi-skilled and skilled classes such as coaching, sewing, mehandi, beautician, classical dance & music, arts, sports etc. for the past 18 years in the Community Centres across Jamshedpur. To motivate and engage these people in events and showcase their talents, several events are organized in regular intervals. To preserve and promote Indian classical dance & contemporary dance forms, we have been conducting Dance Competition/Fest and workshops every year.

To recognize and promote the children and women who are involved in our centres directly or indirectly, Urban Services organized NRITYA- BASANT…A 3 (three) days celebration of all forms of dance in which 630 participants spread the colours of their best moves categorized into 65 teams. This was an open event in which girls, boys and women residing in the bustee areas of all generation performed in the same platform.

The students both girls & boys from Masti Ki Pathshala (MKP) will also take part to show case their hidden talent through dance.  The MKP is a residential school managed by TSF for the deprived children. 15 teams are going to perform along with the other groups

The event helped these participants to engage themselves in understanding the depth of the cultural values of such art form and reviving it by communicating through varied postures of different dance forms. The motto of the event was to enriches the learning capabilities not only of the children but also provide the homemaker and working women a platform to come out of their comfort zone.
