Jamshedpur, Nov 25: With an objective to make PwDs (Persons with Disabilities) self-reliant, Tata Steel Foundation (TSF) distributed assistive aids to PwDs at SABAL Center, Noamundi today.
Sunil Chandra, Circle Officer, Noamundi graced the occasion as Chief Guest along with Prabha Vishwakarma, Child Development Project Officer, Noamundi as Special Guest in the presence of Anil Oraon, Head CSR, OMQ Division, Tata Steel and other senior officials of TSF.
18 PwDs were handed over assistive aids by the dignitaries. On the occasion, blankets were also distributed to PWDs.
Sunil Chandra addressed the gathering and briefed about the various schemes of the government for PWDs and spoke about the special campaign on revision of electoral rules for PwDs. He also appealed to the PwDs to update their electoral identity cards.
SABAL was conceived in 2017 by Tata Steel CSR in partnership with Enable India, with the intent to engender an increased awareness for PwDs and work towards creating a sensitised environment that ensures equal rights and respect for the same. Starting initially in the form of a centre for capacity building of organisations working on disability, SABAL today has established itself as an ecosystem that has so far engaged with more than 5,000 people and more than 50 governments and private organisations.
