Jamshedpur, June 7: Tata Steel Foundation started computer training for People with visual impairments (PwVI) at Sabal centre in Jamshedpur on Tuesday.
Twelve students with visual impairment, eight from NAB and four from Dibyajyoti, began computer training in collaboration with EI. The training will be for a course of two months, from June 6 to August 6. The training would be carried out by Jamshedpur based trainer Meena Kumari and Rajesh Y, trainer from EI, Bangalore.

On the first day, Jamshedpur-based computer instructor, Meena Kumari, assisted the students in gaining a basic grasp of keyboard. Along with Meena, Dikshya and Sonal assisted the students for orientating them to keyboard, usage of notepad and basic functionality. The students picked up on things quickly and wrote about themselves. Students are eager to acquire more skills such as Microsoft Word, Excel, mailing, etc. They were given a mobility tour of the whole premises to familiarize themselves with their surroundings in readiness for their next visit.

Tata Steel Foundation inaugurated the Sabal centre at Sakchi on March 21, 2022. The centre works towards making Jamshedpur a more empathetic, accessible and equitable city for Persons with Disability along with bringing the disability ecosystem together for the entire district combining outreach with the physical centre.
