Jamshedpur: The entire current batch comprising 22 students of housekeeping training course at a Hospitality Training Centre in Kolebira has secured placement at Intas Pharma, Ahmedabad.
The training centre is run by Tata Steel in association with Indian Hotels and PRATHAM, an NGO. Most of the youth hail from Kolhan region including Seraikela-Kharsawan and East Singhbhum in Jharkhand.
The placement package and perks are Rs 6,100 per month along with food and accommodation.
So far, five batches of Housekeeping Training have been conducted at the centre from which 69 trainees have been placed at leading three-star and five-star hotels.
Today, a felicitation ceremony was held at the Hospitality Training Centre, Kolebira, where the successful trainees were handed over job offer letters. Speaking on the occasion, chief guest Dilith Castleton, Head, Empowerment, Corporate Social Responsibility, Tata Steel, encouraged the entire batch to continue studies and learn new things.
She also asked them to demonstrate responsible behavior in the profession as they are going to work in a distant state.
Skill development of youth leading to gainful employment is one of the key corporate social responsibility interventions of Tata Steel.
To cater to the growing skill development needs of youth in Jharkhand, Tata Steel Skill Development Society (TSSDS), was formed in July 2012.
