Jamshedpur: A 47 year-old Tata Steel employee died after falling into a red hot molten iron bucket in the plant in the wee hours of Friday, police said.
Police said it was an accident. �The deceased, Devendra Pal Singh, resident of TS Flats, Kadma, was on night shift duty in LD II plant when the mishap occurred. He suddenly fell into the bucket during duty,� police said.
The deceased worked as a mechanical operator in the steel plant. He is survived by his two children. “It was around 3 am when the incident happened.
The victim fell into the red hot bucket filled with liquid metal which is normally at a temperature of 1600 degrees celsius,” said a department source confirming that recovery of the remains of the slain body was difficult.
The Bistupur police said an investigation was into the incident. “We are trying to find out as to how did the victim fell into the hot bucket is a matter under investigation,” said Jeetendra Kumar, officer in-charge of Bistupur police station.
