Tata Steel employee attacked: Police yet to crack mystery

: A Tata Steel employee, Vipul Kumar ( 40) was shot at and seriously injured last night and the police are yet to crack the mystery behind the attack. He is in charge of a community centre of Tata Steel under its Urban Services department.

He was shot at twice near the United Club in posh Northern Town under Bistupur police station area at about 8 pm on Saturday.

A resident of Sonari, Kumar was attacked by two bike-borne criminals while he was about to get into his car which was parked in front of the club.

Kumar just got into his car and drove straightway to the Tata Main Hospital’s emergency, which is located near the spot. The doctors on emergency duty immediately shifted him to critical care unit (CCU) sensing his condition.

T P Madhusudnan, general manager ( Medical Services), Tata Main Hospital said the condition of Kumar is stable but serious.

Police are investigating but without any clue so far. Senior police officers visited the place of occurrence and also inspected the car which was parked on the premises of the hospital.

” It is very early to comment but yes we have started investigation into the incident . But as of now
nothing could be established,” said senior superintendent of police, Amol V Honkar.

Honkar said they are working in different angle to see and also talking to the family members of the victim so as to get any clue, but as of now nothing has come out.

A team of police officers also visited the hospital to see the victim and queried the doctors attending him about his condition this morning.
