Jamshedpur, Nov. 18: On the eve of the first anniversary of dedication of its steel plant at Kalinganagar, Tata Steel today organized several programmes in the premises of the steel plant.
As part of the celebrations, a function was organized along with an exhibition on the theme of ’Tata Steel Kalinganagar- Taking pride with every stride’ to showcase milestones achieved by operating departments of the plant in the last one year.
T V Narendran, Managing Director, Tata Steel, India & South East Asia and Anand Sen, President, TQM & Steel Business, Tata Steel, joined as guests in the function. Speaking on the occasion, Narendran said, “Tata Steel Kalinganagar should be the benchmark steel plant in the world and would emerge as the pride of Odisha.”
Wishing all success to the employees of Tata Steel Kalinganagar, Sen stated that Tata Steel Kalinganagar has the best in class equipment which should be leveraged to achieve world class benchmarks in operating performance.
Over the last one year, the state-of-the-art Tata Steel Kalinganagar plant located in Jajpur, Odisha, has achieved several milestones across areas of operation.
These include integrated commissioning of various facilities, start of commercial production and ramp up of various facilities. Achieving 1 million tonnes of hot metal production in Blast Furnace, 1 million tonnes of gross coke and 1 million tonnes net sinter production in five months of its commissioning are noteworthy.
Tata Steel has also started exports of Hot Rolled coil and Tata Ferro-shots from its Kalinganagar plant and the products have been very well received in the market place.
Sandeep Biswas, Group Executive Vice President-Finance, Dibyendu Bose, Group Director-Investment and new ventures, Rajiv Kumar, Vice President (Operations), Tata Steel Kalinganagar, Avneesh Gupta, Principal Executive Officer (PEO) and officers of Tata Steel Kalinganagar were present on the occasion.
