Tata Power signs MoU with CBIP to bridge skill-gap

Jamshedpur: Tata Power, India’s largest integrated power company, today announced that the Company has signed an Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Central Board of Irrigation & Power (CBIP) to co-create, develop, and impart training and skill-development courses to the youth as well as employees of the power sector.
CBIP runs a Centre of Excellence for skill development in the power sector, while Tata Power has set up five training hubs in five locations in the country which includes Shahad – Mumbai, Maharashtra; Trombay – Mumbai, Maharashtra; Maithon – Dhanbad, Jharkhand, Mundra – Kutch, Gujarat and Jojobera – Jamshedpur, Jharkhand.
Speaking on this development, Ashok Sethi, ED & COO, Tata Power, said, “In this constantly changing and challenging business scenario, there is a need to constantly hone and upgrade ones’ skillsets. The MoU with CBIP is an endeavour to provide focused skill-training to our youth, thereby, increasing their employability in the power sector. Skill development is an essential ingredient for India’s future economic growth as the country transforms itself into an internationally competitive economy. As always, it is our commitment to work in line with prime minister’s vision to equip youth with relevant employable skills and make India the skill capital of the world.”
