Tata Motors Jamshedpur regularises 225 temporary workers

Mail News Service

Jamshedpur, March 26: Tata Motors has taken another significant step towards regularising its temporary ( referred to as By-six) workforce at its Jamshedpur plant.
The management has released a list of 225 temporary workers who will be absorbed as permanent employees (on probation) during the current quarter.
This move is part of a historic agreement signed on January 25, 2024, between Tata Motors management, the Tata Motors Workers’ Union, and the Jharkhand Labour Commissioner. As per the agreement, 900 temporary workers will be made permanent every year, with 225 employees being inducted each quarter.
The selection process is being carried out based on seniority and eligibility.
After this phase, only around 200 temporary workers will remain, whose regularisation list is expected to be released in June. With this, the decades-long system of temporary employment at the Jamshedpur plant—continuing for nearly 50 years—is set to come to an end.
The selected 225 candidates will undergo medical examinations between April 6 and May 7. Candidates must report to the Tata Motors Central Employment Bureau one day prior to their medical test.
Candidates failing to report on the scheduled date will be considered uninterested in the opportunity. After completion of medical fitness, credential verification, and disciplinary procedures, the selected workers will be formally inducted as probationers.
This development has generated enthusiasm among employees, as both male and female workers are included in the list, marking a major milestone in the company’s workforce policy
