Jamshedpur : On the occasion of the 176th birth anniversary of Jamsetji Tata, Tata Motors Jamshedpur Plant added yet another feather to its cap.
The Plant, which recently completed 60 years of manufacturing excellence, was accorded World Class
Quality Level I Certification on March 3, 2015.
Mr Cyrus P Mistry, Chairman, Tata Group and Tata Motors, presented the WCQ Level I certificate to Mr Ajoy B Lall, Head – Jamshedpur Plant, in the presence of Mr Satish B Borwankar, Executive Director – Quality, Tata Motors.
The certification was a result of an intensive fourday assessment by a cross-locational team of assessors, led by Chetan Chawla (HeadCommercial Vehicle Quality).
Speaking on the occasion, Mr Mistry congratulated the team on the achievement and emphasized that the onus of sustaining and improving Tata Motors’ position as the market leader lies with each one of its employees.
Going further, he urged the team to target the achievement of higher levels of WCQ in the fastest possible time.
The message was reemphasized by Mr Borwankar, who added that today’s competition warrants a ‘first-time-right’ approach.
World Class Quality is an internationally-benchmarked quality system aimed at driving defects back to their source, ultimately eliminating the creation of defects.
The achievement of WCQ Level I marks a significant milestone in Tata Motors’ journey to quality excellence.
