Jamshedpur, Aug 24: Tata Motors employees will receive a 12.3 percent bonus this year, compared to 11 percent granted last year. An agreement in this regard was finalized on Saturday, August 23, between the company management and the union.
As per the settlement, employees will get a maximum bonus of ₹75,223, while the average bonus has been fixed at ₹50,160.

Tata Motors on Saturday concluded its much-awaited bonus agreement, bringing relief and celebration among employees. After several rounds of discussions between the management and the union, the agreement was finalized, following which Union President Shashi Bhushan Prasad and General Secretary R.K. Singh were given a rousing welcome outside the company premises.
Both leaders rode in an open vehicle in a jubilant procession from the company’s main gate to the union office, joined by hundreds of workers. The celebration included drummers, fireworks and garlands presented by women employees. At the union office, the leaders, including advisor Praveen Singh, were felicitated by office bearers.

Addressing the gathering, General Secretary R.K. Singh clarified details of the bonus, emphasizing, “Our union considers every section of the workforce before finalizing the agreement. Unlike other companies, here the discussions extend beyond monetary figures to cover issues like regularization.” He also urged employees to use the bonus wisely.

President Shashi Bhushan Prasad added, “For the past three months, we were planning the bonus strategy. Many kept asking when it would be finalized—today the wait is over. I thank everyone for their support.” Advisor Praveen Singh stressed that securing permanent status for TMST, apprentices and ‘By Six’ employees was as significant as the monetary bonus.

The Tata Motors bonus agreement for 2025 has brought both financial benefits and job security to workers. According to the finalized deal, about 7,000 employees will receive an average bonus of Rs 50,160, with the maximum amount set at Rs 75,223. In addition, nearly 1,300 employees will receive 8.33 percent as part of the bonus structure, while retired employees under superannuation will get Rs 15,048.

The agreement marked a significant rise compared to last year, with the bonus increasing by 1.3 percent to 12.3 percent this year. Beyond the financial rewards, a major highlight of the settlement is the regularization of 375 employees. While 225 were already covered under the previous agreement, this year an additional 150 workers will also be made permanent.

Another key achievement was the decision to employ 148 TMST trainees and apprentices who had been awaiting confirmation. After completing their diploma requirements, they will be directly absorbed as permanent employees. Medical examinations for these candidates will begin within a week.
Advisor Praveen Singh termed this a “major achievement ahead of Durga Puja,” stressing that the union’s focus went beyond monetary negotiations to ensure long-term benefits for employees.
