Tata Motors Jamshedpur contract worker dies on duty, kin demand Rs 20 lakh

Jamshedpur, May 9: A contract worker, identified as Shambhu Nath Bhagat, 57, died on duty at Tata Motors plant on Monday.

According to the family members of the deceased, Bhagat worked under Wheels India Limited at Plant No 1. He had come to the plant for morning shift duty. Around 10.30 am, Bhagat’s employers informed his family about his ill health and subsequent admission at Tata Motors Hospital. On reaching the hospital, the family members were told Bhagat had expired.

Anadi Bhagat, son of the deceased, alleged that his father had no disease as such and that his death was suspicious. He said the employer company had not admitted his father at the right time. He further demanded a compensation of Rs 20 lakh and a job for the next of kin of the deceased.
