Jamshedpur, April 15: Tata Motors management today announced to give a permanent job to the next of kin of Dhirendra Kumar, the Tata Motors employee who had died yesterday after punching his attendance on the company premises.

The announcement came on the third day of agitation by various political parties including BJP, JMM, Congress and JVM in support of the demand for a job in the company by the family members of the deceased company employee.

The agitation reportedly resulted in loss to the company due to stalling of production work in the assembly line and other departments.

The MP of Jamshedpur Vidyut Varan Mahato, Rajya Sabha MP Pradip Balmuchu and Anand Bihari Dubey of Congress, district BJP president Dinesh Kumar, Abhay Singh of JVM and Ramdas Soren of JMM were prominently present during the agitation. Around 2.30 pm, the agitating leaders attended a meeting with the company representatives led by the Tata Motors plant head AB Lal and including GM Manas Mishra, AGM Deepak Kumar, Rajeev Srivastava and Keshav Mani on the compensation issue. After more than two hours of discussion, the company officials announced to give job to Puneeta Devi, wife of late Dhirendra Kumar.

Soon after the announcement, the agitation was called off.

Earlier today, the agitators blocked all entry and exit gates of the company for several hours and refused to buzz till the announcement for job made by the company authorities. As a result, the employees of A-shift could not come out of the company precincts till the end of agitation at 5.15 pm.

Dhirendra Kumar, 45, was an employee of auto transport department of Tata Motors. His kin had demanded a permanent job in the company as compensation to his sudden demise. His death was reportedly caused by heart attack resulting from overstress, said his family members.

Since yesterday till this afternoon, the agitating political party activists and supporters of late Dhirendra Kumar got violent and vandalized the computerized barrier at the company gate.
