Jamshedpur, Apr 25: Acting on instructions from Deputy Commissioner Ananya Mittal, the Mining Task Force conducted a surprise raid at Bagunhatu Bihari Ghat on the Subarnarekha River in the Sidhgora police station area of Jamshedpur. The operation resulted in the seizure of approximately 220 cubic feet of sand and three 407 vehicles used for illegal transportation.
The labourers and drivers loading the sand managed to flee the scene during the raid. An FIR has been filed against the vehicles, drivers and vehicle owners at Sidhgora police station.

“Online verification through the Shrapda portal showed no e-transport challans for the sand loaded in these vehicles,” a District Mining Officer stated. “It’s worth noting that no mining lease for sand has been approved at this location, which confirms illegal excavation and transportation activities.”
The three vehicles along with the sand were seized with police assistance. A formal seizure list was prepared and handed over to Sidhgora police station. Legal action is being pursued against those involved under the Jharkhand Minor Mineral Subsidy Rules 2004, Mines and Mineral Development and Regulations 1957 and other relevant sections.
