Jamshedpur, April 11: Tarapore School, in collaboration with Initiatives of Change (IofC), Jamshedpur, organized a two-day transformative workshop focused on Compassion, Empathy, and Mindfulness for educators across the city. The event aimed at empowering teachers and school leaders with essential life skills to promote emotional well-being and values-based education.
In today’s fast-paced and high-pressure academic environment, the need to balance intellectual pursuits with emotional and ethical development is more important than ever. Recognizing this, the workshop offered an immersive experience designed to encourage introspection, emotional intelligence, and the adoption of inclusive and compassionate teaching practices.
The event was inaugurated in the presence of Chief Guest Colonel Vinay Ahuja, Commanding Officer, 37 Jharkhand Battalion NCC, and Guest of Honour Sourav Roy, CEO of Tata Steel Foundation. Both dignitaries emphasized the critical role of such initiatives in shaping responsible and emotionally resilient citizens.
A panel of distinguished speakers conducted interactive sessions, including: Vijayam Kartha, a renowned educationist and pioneer in innovative learning methods, Dr. Sangeeta Srivastava, eminent educationist and passionate leader, Dr. Amit Mukherjee, a visionary medical professional and Saloni Priya, psychologist and founder of the Ummeed Foundation, which supports underprivileged children
Participants engaged in reflective activities, group discussions, and practical exercises aimed at fostering a positive and mindful approach in schools and the wider community.
The workshop was convened by Salil Roy of IofC and Ishita Dey, Principal of Tarapore School. The event was generously supported by Young Indians, Rotary Club-West, Udit Vani, and Viral Company.
