Jamshedpur, October 1: The Patna High Court, through a single bench of Justice Rajiv Rai, has directed the SDO and City SP of Patna City to oversee the election process for the Takht Shri Harmandir Management Committee. This order came after both parties involved—petitioner Mahendra Pal Singh Dhillon, a former General Secretary, and respondent General Secretary Sardar Indrajit Singh—reached an agreement during a court-mandated meeting held on September 15.
The meeting was attended by the SDO, City SP, and lawyers from both sides. It was agreed that the entire election process, including the preparation of the final voter list, candidate nominations, and voting, would be completed within three months. Affidavits confirming this agreement were submitted to the court by Sardar Mahendra Pal Singh on September 19 and by Sardar Indrajit Singh on September 20.
With the court’s order, the path is clear for elections, which is now expected within three months. This decision has sparked increased activity among potential candidates in all constituencies. Kulwinder Singh, National Convener of the Rashtriya Sanatan Sikh Sabha, expressed hope that the court’s decision will be honored, and a new management committee will take charge in the new year. The next court hearing is scheduled for January 20, 2025.
