Jamshedpur, May 9: The otherwise scorching summer day however got off to a cool and colourful start at the vast expanse of Rabindra Bhawan in the early morning hours when Tagore Society members, school children and teachers initiated the tribute proceedings to international poet Rabindranath Tagore on his 158th birth anniversary, by circumambulation of the building.
A floral tribute was paid to Rabindranath by Tagore Society president Dr HS Paul and other dignitaries. The students of Tagore Academy presented a cultural program highlighting the poet�s lyrical creations. A handicraft exhibition by the students was also put up in the premises.
Speaking to the media, Tagore Society general secretary Asish Chowdhury said that programs based on Rabindranath and his works were being organized to inculcate in the younger generation the glorious traditions so that they could identify the heritage of the past.
