Tagore Academy hosts 11th annual sports meet

Jamshedpur: The Tagore Academy School run by the Tagore Society on Tuesday organised its 11th annual sports meet at Sumant Moolgaonkar Satdium in Telco. Chief Guest for the occasion Dr. HS Pal, President, Tagore Society, said, sports play a vital role in shaping the future of a child and school is the centre of all-round development. ‘Sports helps in mental as well as physical development because healthy mind resides in a healthy body’, added Dr. Pal.

In his speech, Tagore Society secretary Ashis Choudhury, said, Tagore Academy not only focuses on the academics but also given special attention to art and sports.
Series of sporting events were held during the day and students were divided into four groups. After various competitions, Satpura team bagged the first prize followed by team Nilgiri.

Students of class 11 displayed harmony during the march past where Nilgiri and Vindhya won the second position.

Sangeeta Lahiri anchored the sporting activities during the day. School’s sports teacher Subal Chatterjee, Samir Roy, Meeta Banerjee, Arindam Bhattacharya along with sports committee’s Anita Pal, Sadhna Srivastav and Lili Banerjee played a vital role in making the sports event successful. Principal Madhuchhanda Majumdar was also present on the occasion and appreciated the talent of the students.
