Jamshedpur: Under its affirmative action policy, Tata Steel supports the needy and deserving students from the SC/ST communities for higher education as well as employability training programmes.
At an interactive programme held today at the Tribal Culture Centre, Sonari, students of nursing training programmes, students pursuing higher education at leading professional institutes, engineering coaching students as well as youth of the All Odisha Ho Students Association were addressed by Mr. T V Narendran, Managing Director, Tata Steel, India & SEA.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Narendran said, “It is easy to give financial aid to the needy, but it is difficult to give time and commitment.
It is important for the Company to support Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives by encouraging other employees also to commit their time and effort. This will not only bring us closer to the community but also will guide us in taking community centric business decisions. We want to make Corporate Social Responsibility the way we work and the way we think and not just restrict it to a department that works for the community.”
Sunil Bhaskaran, vice president, Corporate Services, Tata Steel, Mr. Biren Bhuta, Chief CSR, Tata Steel, Urmila Ekka, Honorary Secretary Tribal Cultural Society, Mr. Sandeep Kumar, Chief EIC IBMD, Tata Steel, Ms. Sawastika Basu, Chief Procurement (MRO and Services), Tata Steel also addressed the youth and motivated them to pursue their dreams.
