Symphony to present Western Classical compositions in Jamshedpur on Dec 4

Jamshedpur, Dec 2:  The Symphony School of Music will present a Western Classical musical rendezvous at Tome Auditorium, XLRI on Sunday, December 4 between 5 and 6:30 pm.

The Symphony School of Music (earlier, Jamshedpur School of Music) that was launched in 2010 with four students learning to play the piano under the tutelage of C Perris from Kolkata. Later, Theo Fernandes, the octogenarian magician of piano and violin who bolstered Jamshedpur’s Western music legacy, joined The Symphony School of Music to give soul to Western Classical concept. Although Theo Fernandes no longer teaches music, he continues to be fondly remembered and respected by his students.

Presently, Symphony School of Music has 40 students on its muster learning to play the piano and violin. They are trained and prepared for the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM), London examinations. The Jamshedpur Chapter was the centre for ABRSM practical and theory exams since 2013 but the exams went online from 2020. The Symphony students will present short pieces from Hayden, Schubert, Bach, Beethoven, Mozart and others compositions. To add to the excitement of Western classical music, the students of Camille Vandeweghe Sahay will present songs and Ballets. Student choir of Irvine Adventist School of Ghatshila will also perform on the occasion.
