Swarnarekha Mahotsav Preparations Complete, River Worship to Be Held at Four Ghats Today

Jamshedpur: Preparations for the annual Swarnarekha Mahotsav, scheduled for January 14, have been completed across Jamshedpur. A review meeting of the Swarnarekha Kshetra Vikas Trust was held to give final shape to arrangements for the festival, which focuses on river worship and environmental awareness.

Trust members said all logistical and organisational aspects have been put in place for the event, which will be marked by Nadi Pujan (river worship) at multiple locations along the Swarnarekha river.

River Worship at Four Ghats

As part of the celebrations, river worship will be performed at 9 am at four river ghats, including Gandhi Ghat, Pandey Ghat, and Bhojpur Ghat. Local residents and environmental activists are expected to participate actively in the rituals.

The main ceremony will be held at 10 am at the Sonari Domuhani Sangam Ghat, where members of the Trust and guests will gather in large numbers.

Dignitaries to Attend

Several prominent personalities are expected to attend the main event, including Saryu Roy, Singhbhum Chamber of Commerce president Manav Kedia, Abhishek Bhalotia, noted industrialist and social worker Naveen Agarwal, along with environmentalists and intellectuals.

Focus on River Conservation

Swarnarekha Mahotsav is organised every year on January 14 jointly by the Swarnarekha Kshetra Vikas Trust and Yugantar Bharati. The festival aims to promote awareness about river conservation, cleanliness and the ecological importance of the Swarnarekha.

This year marks the 21st edition of the river worship ceremony, continuing a tradition that blends cultural observance with environmental responsibility.
