Jamshedpur: The Centre for Bharatiya Marketing Development (CBMD), a unit of the Swadeshi Jagran Foundation is promoting medicinal plants and herbs through this year�s Swadeshi Mela at Gopal Maidan.
CBMD launched a drive among the consumers to ensure easily availability of medicinal plants and herbs and also provide the members the guidance for its usage.
A coordinator, said that the idea is to spread the message of benfits of these shrubs and hearbs which are abundant in Kolhan. He went on to inform that an exhibition on medicinal plants and herbs organised for the first time last year grabbed the maximum attention of the people. Buoyed over it�s they have decided to launch a drive to promote the plants.
Organisers informed that these plants are not only good for health but help in reducing the risks of several diseases from 70 to 75 per cent. Twenty eight different varieties of plants would be put up. He said that the apart from sale of products, the fair would also host talks and panel discussions on national and social issues at the venue.
Moreover, during the evenings cultural programmes based on folk dances of various States would be presented.
An array of products from, computers produced by national companies to furniture would be made available in stalls.
According to the organisers, the fair would showcase �all that is Swadeshi (Indian)�and will facilitate visitors to experience all that is Indian to market Indian goods.
�It will be the most comprehensive showcase offering specialized exposure to all major sectors. The event will offer opportunities for participants to generate demand and expand the export market,� said a senior functionary.
The mela will showcase textiles, consumer durables, furniture and home decor, ayurvedic products and handicrafts.
He said that the western world is ruling the markets despite the fact that the products produced in our country are equally competitive.
With increasing flow of western products multinationals are minting money at our own cost. It is our duty to consume �swadeshi� products for the sake of our own people.
