Superstitious man stones 71 year old woman to death in Jamshedpur

Suffering from insomnia, accused blamed �black magic� for his condition

Jamshedpur: Superstition resulted in the brutal killing of a 71 year old woman, identified as Hurdig Mandal, in Tupudang village of Parsudih on Wednesday.
The body of the deceased, who was alleged stoned by one Dugai Hembram, a local youth, was found from the house of the accused who has been arrested.

Sources said the accused, 45 year-old, killed the old woman when the latter came to his house. Already suspecting the old woman of practicing black magic on him, Hembram stoned her following a heated argument with her. Soon after killing the woman, Hembram escaped from the scene.

Police reached the crime scene on getting a tip-off from the neighbours of the deceased. They caught Hembram when he returned home after sometime.

Hembram reportedly told police the old woman was not letting him sleep peacefully by using �black magic�. He said he was suffering from insomnia for the last many days, sources said.

According to the officer in-charge of Parsudih PS Animesh Kumar Gupta, the killing took place as a result of superstitious beliefs of the accused.
