Jamshedpur : South Eastern Railway (SER) will introduce a number of summer special trains from Tatanagar to meet the extra rush of passengers.
Officials at the South Eastern Railway headquarters at Garden Reach in Kolkata �said a notification would be issued from�April 3 to June 26��for a weekly summer special between Tatanagar and Visakhapatnam.
” In order to meet the rush the step is being taken. The train will be introduced on�April 3�and will run till the end of June. It will have second AC, third AC, sleeper class and general coaches,” an official.
The South Eastern Railway ( SER) has decided to provide extra coaches in several long distance trains either originating or running via��Tatanagar railway station to ease the rush during the peak summer. Officials in Garden Reach, the Kolkata -based headquarter of South Eastern Railway��revealed that that necessary nitty-gritties are��being worked out for providing extra coaches in the long distance trains.
” Keeping in view the rush of passengers we have decided to provide extra coaches in some of the��trains which has long waiting�lists. The details are being worked out,” said an official.
The official went on to say that some of the trains which will get the facility of extra coaches includes��Howrah-Mumbai Geetanjali��Express, Puri-New Delhi Purushottam Superfast Express and Howrah-Ahmedabad Express . In all the three trains the reservation list��has reached the 200 mark in the first and second weeks of May.
A railway official at Tatanagar, L B Sharma admitted the rush in trains due to two reasons — summer vacation and the peak marriage�season.
” Several long distance trains passing through Tatanagar railway station is witnessing huge rush of passengers due to the marriage�season . The rush will increase after the summer vacation in schools,” he said adding that they have also requested Garden Reach for��providing additional coaches keeping in view the long waiting list.
Authorities of Tatanagar railway station said keeping in mind the convenience of passengers, they would soon open an extra ticket�booking counter which will function till the end of��May.
The local railway authorities��are also leaving no stone unturned to ensure passenger amenities. �We are trying to ensure proper��seating arrangements on the platforms and at the waiting halls for passengers during the holiday season, ” said Awtar Singh, the station manager of Tatanagar.
