
West Bokaro, May 31: The fun-filled fortnight long �Summer Camp 2019� by the Sports Department of Tata Steel�s West Bokaro Division concluded on Friday at Sports Complex, West Bokaro.
The closing ceremony at the Sports Complex of West Bokaro was attended by Anurag Dixit, Chief, Quarry SE, Tata Steel (West Bokaro) as Chief Guest along with Praveen Sinha, Chief, HRM, Tata Steel (West Bokaro), Mahesh Prasad, President, Rashtriya Colliery Mazdoor Sangh (RCMS), Kailash Gope, Secretary, RCMS and Kumar Vikram, Head, Administration, Tata Steel (West Bokaro).
The purpose of the camp was to teach participants about various techniques of eight different sports including archery, athletics, basketball, cricket, football, handball, table tennis and volleyball. 250 children from in and around West Bokaro actively took part in this camp to make it a huge success. Apart from this, lifestyle management and yoga classes were also organised for the children during the camp.
During the summer camp, the trainers not only briefed the students about various exercises but also taught about basic food habits and engrained the spirit of sportsmanship in them. In the camp, sportspersons who have represented India at international level namely Sapna Kumari (who bagged Gold Medal in Athletics at SAF Games held at Colombo in 2011) and Amit Kumar Singh (who represented India in athletics at World Youth Games held at France in 2011) shared their experiences with the participants and gave them various sports related tips and insights.
During the camp, the students were put under the supervision of sports experts who educated the children about the nuances of various games. All the children who participated benefited immensely from this camp and were happy to familiarize themselves on the rules and regulations of certain games.
On the occasion, the dignitaries felicitated the coaches and appreciated their contribution to make the camp a big success and distributed certificates to the participants for attending the camp.
Speaking on the occasion, Anurag Dixit said, �I am delighted
to see the energy among the participants. Sports not only help us stay fit but
it also develops self-discipline, sportsmanship and team spirit which makes us
a better human being.�
In his address, Praveen Sinha said, �West Bokaro is a pioneer in starting this concept of summer camp in the region which is now replicated at various institutions in Ramgarh district. This Sports Complex has nurtured many national and international level players who have brought laurels for the state.�
Addressing the young crowd, Mahesh Prasad said, �With dedication and perseverance, even sky is not the limit. In sports, West Bokaro has always been in the forefront across Tata Steel and the Feeder Centre here has proven to be a stepping stone for many children to reach international arena of sports.�
On the occasion, the participants also shared their experiences with the dignitaries and fellow participants.
It may be reiterated here that the objective of this camp, organised by the
Sports Department of West Bokaro Division was to develop team spirit,
leadership & competitive spirit among the children.
The guests present on the occasion appreciated the efforts of the Sports Department in organizing the camp which was led by Mr Rajiv Ranjan Singh, Senior Sports Organiser, Tata Steel (West Bokaro).
Among others present on the occasion were officials of Tata Steel and Union representatives.
