Jamshedpur, Oct 17: Body of a class IV student has been found after she was allegedly gangraped and murdered by miscreants in Goilkera in West Singhbhum district, police said.
The girl had gone missing on Thursday after returning from school and her undressed body was found among bushes near Behda village this morning.
Against the incident, Social Organizations called for Goilkera Bandh on Saturday and school students in large numbers came out on roads and protested against the heinous crime. Holding placards students demanded prompt arrest of the culprits and speedy justice through fast track court.
Nagrik Ekta Manch bandh was totally successful were residents at NH-75 (Ranchi-Chaibasa) was jammed for several hours which made vehicles stuck on both sides of the road.
According to Goilkera police station officer-in-charge Patras Nag, the girl had gone to wash her clothes in a nearby ‘nullah’ soon after returning from the school but did not return home.
The family members searched for her but could not trace her till late night. When they resumed the search the next morning her brother spotted her clothes kept in a bucket and one of her slippers. Her body was found hid in the bush with her face crushed with stones, Nag added.
Prima facie it suggested that the girl was raped and murdered but the number of miscreants involved in the crime was yet to be established, he said.
The body of the victim girl, who was a student of St Paul’s School lived with her paternal uncle.
