Students discuss cyber war, atrocities against Dalits at IIMUN Jamshedpur conference

Jamshedpur: Hill Top School in partnership with IIMUN (Indian International Model United Nations) is hosting the second edition in Jamshedpur on 28th and 29th October 2017.

The programme was inaugurated by the lighting of the traditional lamp by the Guest of Honour Amiya Singha who is also the Chairman of the Hill Top School Managing Committee. The Chief Guest for the event was Anamika Majumdar.

120 delegates from 13 schools of Jamshedpur participated in the event.
The Principal, Puneeta B Chouhan, emphasized the need for preparing youth to galvanize the world affairs by training the youth for diplomacy through the forum of IIMUN.

The Director General, Mystica Vora introduced the students to MUN.

Secretary General, Jeevesh Garg declared the conference open & stated his experiences with the MUN.

Several committees were formed and discussions were based on the different topics: United Nations Security Council (UNSC) held discussion on the topic – The Question of Cyber War.

For the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) the topic given was – Laying down a roadmap for meeting the SOG goal 5. The Lok Sabha committee discussed about -Addressing the atrocities against Dalits.

United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and Pacific (UNESCAP) held discussion on- Fostering developing countries capacities for climate change adoption.

Another committee formed was International Press (IP) and the sessions will continue on October 29.

On the occasion dances were presented by the students of Hill Top School. Prayer Dance�Invocation to Ganesha by the students of the Primary Section.

Russian Dance�Performed by the students of Classes 7 & 8 (Ukarian Terrains). Lavni�The lavani dance was touted to be the most elegant & graceful dance and Fusion � Scintillating dance performance by the students of Classes IX &XI.

It may be noted that IIMUN is a student organization that simulates the workings of the United Nations for school students to engage in thoughtful debate and discussions about international relations, current affairs and world politics.

The students that take part come together to represent world diplomats and experience the true depths of a technical topic that they can choose from a plethora of agendas and learn what it feels like to be a diplomat.

IIMUN was founded in the year 2012 by a group of college friends led by Rishabh Shah. The IIMUN team has now become the only Indian team to be invited to the United Nations General Assembly for a Model UN workshop.
