Jamshedpur, April 26: Lajpat Public School hosted Inter-School Karate Championship, promoting martial arts among young students. The event drew enthusiastic participation from around 22 schools across the region, with nearly 200 to 250 boys and girls competing in various categories.
BJP leader Dharmendra Prasad attended the event as the chief guest, while Principal Ranjit Ghosh was the guest of honour. The championship was conducted by the Jharkhand Goju Ryu Karate Do Association, which is recognized by the Government of Jharkhand and affiliated with the National Karate Federation.
To maintain high standards and ensure fair play, 16 qualified judges and referees officiated the matches. Their presence helped in conducting the competition in a professional manner.
Kancho L. Nageshwar Rao, Chief Coach of the Tata Steel Karate Training Center, played an important role in guiding the participants and supporting the smooth conduct of the event. The championship was organised under the supervision of Sarju Ram, whose efforts ensured proper management.
Organisers highlighted the importance of karate, especially for girls, as an essential skill for self-defence. They noted that karate enjoys global recognition and is featured in major sporting events such as the Asian Games and the South Asian Federation Games.
