Jamshedpur, Nov 12: A minor altercation between students outside Motilal Nehru Public School in Bistupur turned violent on Wednesday when a student was stabbed in the back.
The injured student, identified as Tauseef Khan from Golmuri, was rushed to Tata Main Hospital (TMH) where he was undergoing treatment.
According to police sources, the incident occurred after school hours when Tauseef and another student accidentally bumped into each other while descending the stairs.
The verbal argument that followed soon escalated. In a fit of rage, the other student reportedly called his friends from outside.
A short while later, the group gathered near the school’s main gate close to Rajendra Vidyalaya. As soon as Tauseef stepped out of the campus, the assailants surrounded him and began beating him.
During the scuffle, one of them allegedly pulled out a knife and stabbed Tauseef in the back, leaving him grievously injured.
Panicked students and staff rushed to inform school authorities, and Tauseef was immediately taken to TMH for treatment. The incident has created panic among students and parents alike.
Police have begun investigating the case and are working to identify and trace the attackers.
