Stronger MSME commitment must for achieving zero-accident workplace


Jamshedpur, Dec. 18: CII Jharkhand organised its second edition of Industrial Safety Conclave today. The objective of the CII Jharkhand Industrial Safety Conclave 2020 was to inspire the stakeholders towards building an even stronger culture of safety in their organisations. This conclave acted as a forum wherein the participants got the opportunity to interact with the safety professionals, thought leaders to learn the best practices.

“For achieving Vision Zero or a Zero-accident workplace, we would need more involvement and commitment of the MSMEs. I am happy that the CII Jharkhand Safety Panel has launched Project SARTHI to handhold MSMEs on better safety management practices and transform them into a better and safer workplace”, stated Sanjay Sabherwal, Chairman, CII Jharkhand State Council & Managing Director, Metaldyne Industries Ltd at the CII Jharkhand Industrial Safety Conclave 2020.

Addressing the gathering, Tapas Sahu, Chairman, CII Jamshedpur Zonal Council and Managing Director, Highco Engineers Pvt Ltd said, “Safety is something which can never be over emphasised. Impact of being unsafe is very heavy on the society. Best safety cultures are led by business leaders who integrate safety into the business”.

“The commitment from the leadership towards safety is extremely critical to inculcate a true safety culture within the organisation”, affirmed Mr Vilas Gaikwad, Chief – Safety, Tata Steel Long Products Ltd while addressing the conclave.

Bipin B Sharan, Head, Safety, Tata Motors Ltd avowed “This second edition of CII Jharkhand Industrial Safety Conclave will prove to be a good learning session with significant takeaways and would go along way in encouraging industries to take proactive approaches for a safe workplace”.

Raju Ramchandran, Senior Vice President – Jojobera Cement Plant, Nuvoco Vistas Corporation Ltd opined that achieving Vision Zero in Industrial Safety will require new mindset, new beliefs, new approaches and a different kind of leadership.

Shrikant Singh, Convenor, CII Jharkhand Safety Panel & Deputy General Manager, Nuvoco Vistas Corp Ltd affirmed that the creation of world class standards and adoption of best practices in manufacturing and services will prove futile unless all stakeholders wake up to the need for effective implementation and a continuous process of improvement to keep pace with changes in technology and customer needs.

The other important dignitaries who addressed the CII Jharkhand Industrial Safety Symposium 2019 included Prakash Sinha, General Manager-HT, Tata Motors Ltd; Ganesh Tripathy, Senior Vice President – Manufacturing Excellence, Nuvoco Visitas Corporation Limited; Mr Subhabrata Ghosh, Plant Head-Jamshedpur, Automotive Axles Ltd; Dr Abhishek Pandey, Chief Medical Officer & Country Health Coordinator, Nuvoco Vistas Corporation Ltd; Shikhar Kaushik, Head – Safety New Initiatives (Safety India & SEA), Tata Steel Limited; S K Bhattacherjee, Chief General Manager (Iron Making), Mecon Limited; Sunil Kumar, Senior General Manager (I/c) – GL & T, Mecon Ltd.

The symposium deliberated on important topics of discussion including Adopting Safety as a Culture, Emerging Trends & Technology in Industrial Safety and Best Practices in Industrial Safety and Maintaining Safe Shop Floor in the New Normal Scenario. Over 100 delegates participated in this important forum.
