Jamshedpur, Feb. 8: Villagers in and around the Tata Power, Lafarge and Steel strip wheel are facing several deadly diseases due to the polluted water coming out of the companies.
Animals and birds are also dying by consuming the polluted water, said Afzal Akhtar, deputy head of Jamshedpur block.
Taking the matter seriously, Akhtar on Monday submitted a memorandum to Jharkhand state pollution control board Ranchi and regional officer Adityapur and demanded strict action the companies taking into account the public interest.
Akhtar said Gadra, Govindpur, Khukdadih, Hitku and Khakdipada panchayats farming is done on 3000 acre land where polluted water and coal ash from the companies is polluting the farms and air.
A copy of the memorandum was also submitted to East Singhbhum deputy commissioner Dr. Amitabh Kaushal.
