Jamshedpur, Feb 27: A mini truck laden with straw caught fire near the Harharguttu drain under Bagbera police station. Alerted by local residents, the driver halted the truck in the middle of the road, prompting bystanders to help extinguish the fire by tossing out burning straw from the vehicle.
After concerted efforts, the fire was eventually brought under control. Reports suggest that the driver was transporting the straw to someone in the locality when the incident occurred. It was believed that the straw-laden mini truck had come in contact with overhead electric wire and the straw caught fire due to possible short circuit. However, the swift action by local people helped contain the situation.
