Storm spells havoc in villages under Chakulia Block

Jamshedpur: The storm that struck villages under Chakulia Block and other nearby areas devastated many houses, gardens and farms. Many rooftops were blown away, partial damages were caused in several houses and tenements with uprooted trees falling on weak structures.

 A transformer along with its supporting poles collapsed at Badamara village affecting power supply in the rural areas. The quantum of losses has not yet been ascertained by the administrative authorities concerned.

Baharagora legislator Kunal Shadangi visited Chakulia Block early in the morning to take stock of losses accrued from last night�s powerful storm. He went around talking to the affected villagers and tried to assess the situation.  He called up the related government official over phone and talked about providing compensation to the affected villagers. Parishad members Shivcharan Hansda, Haripado Gope, Sukhendu Poida, and Mukhiya Samsar Murmu accompanied the legislator during the tour of the affected villages.

Sardiha Panchayat resident Sishir Ghatwari was one of the affected people whose house was totally destroyed in the storm.

Being the season of vegetables, farmers who were growing bitter gourds were the most affected among them being Dilip Mahapatra, Rajkumar Rout, Basudeb Mahakur, Prabhudayal Nayak, Divakar Nayak, Pitho Soren, Asutosh Mahakur, Anup Giri, Ajit Das and many others.

 Kalipado Sao, Tribhang Rana, Guhiram Mahakud, Ajit Das, Asish Rana�s houses were partially damaged.
