Jamshedpur, March 22: Expressing displeasure with the damage inflicted on green space in Neem Bagh near Marine Drive road, Kerala Public School, Kadma students protested against the anti-social elements.
They claim the walls and greenery in the Neem Bagh are in bad shape and many anti-social elements are misusing the place.
Students of KPS Kadma carrying placards reading ‘Stop destroying the Neem Bagh’ expressed their angst and dismay at the callous approach by certain miscreants.
Students of class 3 to 12 voiced their concern and urged the administration to have CCTV placed around the Bagh to discourage such destructive behavior.
The silent protest was also attended by KPS Kadma Principal Sharmila Mukherjee and teachers.

“In the recent past there has been constant damage done to walls and formal police complaints were also lodged twice but in vain. The wall is constantly being damaged so that people may conveniently cross over and use the place for illegal activities. The place is also used as a trash bin by certain residents to throw their dirty wastes,” said Principal Sharmila Mukherjee.
She further said that last night the wall facing the Marine drive was severely damaged to the utter dismay of the children and school.

Neem Bagh behind Kerala Public School Kadma by the Marine Drive road was handed over by Tata Steel UISL (formerly JUSCO) in the year 2017. Since then the school has been looking into the maintenance and welfare of the Bagh, informed the principal.
Sharmila Mukherjee further stated that Neem Bagh was initially a dump yard that was converted to green space with Neem trees. The school ensures cleanliness and cutting of shrubs and bushes on a regular basis along with the eco-friendly painting of trees and painting of the outer wall with motivating slogans thrice a year.
