Jamshedpur, Aug 27: An orientation programme cum workshop for under-age couples was organized under Sambhav empowerment project for adolescents at Baharagora community health centre on Tuesday. As many as 26 couples participated in the programme. The workshop was inaugurated by the medical officer in-charge of the CHC Dr Om Prakash Choudhary.
In his address, Dr Choudhary said getting married at a premature age is a blot on the society. Mental and bodily maturity and fitness is must for getting married, he said.
Dr Choudhary further said that girls of very young age cannot become mothers of healthy children. Hence child marriage should be stopped.
Other speakers of the event included Dr Suparna Nayak, Dharmaraj Kishore, Pashupati Mahato, Shyama Prasad Mahapatra, Shakuntala Mahato and Shishir Kumar Lenka.
