Jamshedpur, Sept. 4: The police cracked the mystery of murder of five year old girl. Supriyo Ghosh, the step-father of the five-year-old girl whose mutilated body was found from near Subernarekha river on September 2, confessed to have killed the child.
Supriyo said that he murdered his step-daughter as he wanted a baby of his own, but his wife and the mother of the murder victim would use to oppose him.

Senior superintendent of police, M Tamil Vanan said that Supriyo Ghosh (22) confessed that he murdered his step-daughter.
Addressing a press conference, Vanan said they nabbed Supriyo from his house at Shastrinagar in Kadma on September 2, the day the mutilated body was found from along the Subernarekha river.
” Even in the beginning the needle of suspicion was on Supriyo, we were a bit confused, but after a thorough questioning, the suspect broke in late on Thursday night and confessed his crime,” said the senior superintendent of police on Friday.

The senior police officer said that on August 31, the child who was staying with her mother Rajni Ghosh at Kapali Bustee in Sonari. Rajni had lodged a report with the Sonari police station on September 1 after searching for the baby everywhere. The body was found lying along the marine drive close to the Subernarekha river on September 2 morning, leading the police to pick up Supriyo as he was last seen with the murder victim.
According to the senior SP, the assailant Supriyo who was using a stolen bike had a fight with his wife Rajni on August 30 over the issue of a new baby.
On Thursday family members and relatives took along the body of the child and demanded the police to hand over Supriyo to them so that they would teach him a lesson. Over 100 protestors, mostly women, launched a massive protest and the police had to deploy forces near the police station. Following protest deputy superintendent of police (headquarters-II) Arvind Kumar assured them that they would solve the case and arrest the real culprits within the next 24 hours.
