Steel Strip Wheels issue: Protest before SDO office

Jamshedpur, June 4: During the ongoing ‘Majdoor Satyagrah’ launched by BJP leader Dinesh Kumar and Bhojpuri Navchetna Manch’s Appu Tiwary against the anti-labour policy of the company, they had filed a complaint to SDO against the alleged irregularities in the Steel Strip Wheels company.

Taking immediate action, SDO (CO) had formed a five member team led by factory inspector to look into the matter. But even after several weeks of inspection, the reports have not been submitted before the senior officers.

Demanding revelation of the reports, Dinesh Kumar and Appu Tiwary protested before the CO office and sought permission to block the company gate if no action is taken on favour of the labourers. In the absence of SDO Suraj Kumar, Deputy collector land reforms Manoj Kumar held a meeting the protestors and assured action.

On the occasion BJP leader Dinesh Kumar said, it’s been more than a month that we are only getting assurances and action has been taken against the culprit officials and not even the inquiry report has been prepared. ‘SDO should inform as to why the investigation report has not been prepared. The administration should take action or give permission to block the company gate.

At the event, Appu Tiwary said, wrong strategy of the company management and administration has gripped the workers with fear and hunger, which is showing on them. Although several memoranda have been submitted on the issue, the senior officials have not bothered to respond or attend the meet, which shows they are guilty.

The workers have been shown the door by false accusations leveled on them are facing difficult time to earn bread for their living. This was the last effort to demand the investigation report and if no action is taken we will be forced to block the company gate for indefinite period.
