Celluloid Chapter organises women’s film festival

Jamshedpur : The International Women’s Day was celebrated in the city with a series of events. Many successful women of the city were invited to share their experiences and wisdom among the gatherings. Colleges like Jamshedpur Women�s College, Graduate School College for Women organised special events for the occasion.

The Celluloid Chapter also organised a Women’s Film Festival to celebrate International Women’s Day. The festival that commenced on March 7 at Jamshedpur Women�s College and will conclude on March 11. Jamshedpur Women’s College and various women organisation have been involved in organising the festival. The women centric films are being screened at Centre for Excellence. The Celluloid Chapter Art Foundation along with Federation of Film Societies of India (FFSI) is organizing the festival.

A student said women needs dignity and self respect which is the least one can give but the present scenario shows that how a woman is even being deprived of it. She highlighted the issue of gender diversity, emphasized that in the past three decades companies due to the need of the situation, they are hiring female employees.

On International Women�s Day, organisations and individuals in the city also organised various events to raise awareness on the United Nations� theme for the day this year, �#Balance for Better�.

Members of All-India Mahila Samiti district, burnt an effigy depicting vulgarity on the eve of Women�s Day. The activists encouraged the participants to challenge themselves, aim for the extra-ordinary as opposed to the average. She reinforced the importance of making repeated attempts, to strengthen your resolve with every failure you�re faced with, until you emerge a winner.

�Victory is in the attitude you carry during the pursuit of your dream, it�s not merely the act of achieving something. Our ability never restricts us, our thoughts do. Don�t be afraid to fail,� noted a member.
