All steel city roads lead to Gopal Maidan today

Jamshedpur: Election campaigning in Jamshedpur Parliamentary constituency is all set to pick up pace in the city with the Bharatiya Janata Partys Prime-ministerial candidate Narendra Modi going to address an election meeting at Gopal Maidan, Bistupur, tomorrow.

As per a tentative programme schedule, Modi will be addressing the gathering around noon. A huge crowd is expected to gather at the venue to listen to arguably the most talked about candidate in this years general elections.

In view of the huge turnout expected during the programme, state police have made extensive security arrangements at the venue. A 21 member team of Gujarat police is camping in the city to take care of the security arrangements along with the local police. National Security Guard commandoes have taken the venue and the adjoining buildings under their purview to ensure foolproof security for the VVIP guest.

District administration sources said a special route chart for city traffic had been prepared to make sure there is no road jam during the VVIP visit. Modi will arrive at the venue directly from Sonari Airport through the main road beside Talwar Building via Tulsi Bhavan.

Armed police jawans and NSG commandoes will be there atop buildings around Gopal Maidan to keep vigil on the crowd. There will be half a dozen entry points leading to the programme venue. Gates will be there to allow controlled flow of visitors to the ground.

Senior superintendent of police, East Singhbhum, Amol Venukant Homkar said security had been beefed up in the city. He said special vigil will be kept in and around Gopal Maidan and other places in the city. Police will be keeping an eye on suspicious looking people at railway station, bus stops and all entry and exit points in the city, he said.

BJP leaders of the state are also prepared to welcome the celebrity member of their party. They have made plans to extract maximum benefit of Modis visit to Jharkhand so as to ensure victory of party candidates on all the 14 Lok Sabha seats in the state.

Senior party leaders including former Chief Minister Arjun Munda, former deputy CM and MLA of Jamshedpur East Raghuvar Das, former MLA Saryu Roy, Potka MLA Menka Sardar and state BJP president Ravindra Rai will be there on the stage with Modi, said party officials.

BJP spokesperson, Anil Modi said entry of VVIP, VIP, mediapersons and police personnel to Modis programme venue will be made through pass. Security check will be carried out at all the entry points, he said.
