Jamshedpur: Jamshedpur has become a city of centurion blood donors with a large number of them being its resident.
Although national level data is not available on such a feat, the city arguably occupies a respectable position in the country. The contribution has been recognized by both the National AIDS Control Organisation as well as the Jharkhand State AIDS Control Organisation.
The city has had 34 centurion blood donors. All of them are males out of which five have passed away. S P Trivedi is the highest donor with 130 times.
Some of them have crossed the donation age of 65 years hence are now not eligible to donor while some are on medication hence not being permitted to donate.
Amongst the existing centurion donors six of them namely Dinesh Adeshra, Dipak Parikh, G Chandra Shekhar Raju, S K Jha, Awadesh Kumar Singh and Gurpal Singh are still very active and donate as soon as they become eligible after the prescribed gap.
