Ranchi: Chief Minister Hemant Soren has said that the establishment of a Mega Handloom Cluster in Godda should be expedited. The decision was taken at a marathon meeting to consider establishment of an air cargo and chalk out other development plans yesterday.
Soren said that in view of large forest produce in the state establishment of food processing units should be encouraged and youth be trained to join them. A road map for five year project should be drawn up. He said it has been decided to notify the state�s procurement policy by June 30. He directed for physical verification of sick industrial units.
The CM for the third day running at a marathon meeting with officers reviewed the physical and financial targets of different departments including agriculture and sugarcane development, Industries, social welfare and water resources departments. At the meeting held at his residence the Chief Minister instructed the officers to complete projects and schemes in a time bound manner.
Reviewing the status of agriculture in the state, he had said yesterday that distribution of seeds for kharif should be started within fifteen days. Twenty lakhs farmers have been given KCCs and the rest of ten lakh farmers should be provided in the current financial year. Target for making ten lakh hectare acidic land fit for farming was fixed at the meeting, He directed that agricultural equipments worth Rs 15 crores be distributed among the farmers.
In various other decisions taken yesterday, he said that solar power should be used for deep boring. New programme in the line of State Horticulture Mission (SHM) should be started in seven districts and the SHM schmes should be evaluated by third party.
He directed that the farmers should be provided with all information about monsoon and other vital matters through official Website,FM, satellite channels and newspapers. He said that the functioning of Agriculture Technology Management Agency should be further activated.
Referring to the issue of child trafficking to Kerala, the CM said efforts should be made to bring them back expeditiously and steps should be taken such incidents do not reoccur.
Soren, reviewing water resources activities in the state, said that irrigation should be provided through minor irrigation schemes. He said that a review of the old agreements made during Bihar days with regard to reservoirs was needed. He directed the officials to hold talks with counterparts in West Bengal, Odisha and Bihar over use of water.
At the meeting along with Development Commissioner Sudhir Prasad senior officers of different departments were present.
