Jamshedpur, July 30: Love ought to show itself in deeds more than in words:  Ignatius of Loyola.

Loyola School commemorated its Founder’s Day, Saint Ignatius of Loyola, with a grand celebration that featured an array of captivating performances, including dances, songs, and a play that brought to life the inspiring story of Ignatius of Loyola.

The School Administrator, Fr Gerry, described St Ignatius of Loyola as a saint of imagination. He said, “St Ignatius had the power of imagination not only to form creative ideas and images but also to expand our capacity to empathize with humans whose experiences we have never shared. This capacity for empathy leads to a genuine encounter—in which heart speaks to heart.”

Fr Gerry shared that as a boy, Ignatius, called Inigo, dreamed of becoming a famous soldier. At sixteen, he became a male attendant and eventually a soldier in the Spanish army. However, he was badly wounded while fighting against the French.

He called upon all participants of the Loyola Day celebrations to remember this great saint of imagination. “As we journey on in this noisy world of different voices, let us develop the courage to listen to the voice of the heart that can sometimes bring change. It may be difficult and challenging to take up that less-traveled path. While we see many humans, we do not see much humanity. We have no time for one another. We run like rats. Our social media has made our world smaller and closer, but we are not closer; we are more impersonal. We have a long list of contacts but no personal relationships with people. Let us become men and women of imagination, listening to the voice of our heart, a heart that speaks to the heart.”

The School Administrator expressed his gratitude to Principal Charanjeet Ohson, Coordinators Reshma, Zeenat, and Colleen Xavier, teachers, students, and the support staff who joined shoulders to make the St Ignatius Day celebrations a huge success.
